Don't Let The Country Go (不讓江山) by 知白 (Zhi Bai) - Author's Reflections on the New Book

Author's Reflections on the New Book

I rewrote the story for my new book three or four times. Initially, I planned to write about Leng An’s descendants and had already penned a significant portion. However, I eventually abandoned that idea because writing about a "second generation" felt redundant. No matter how powerful the second generation may be, they will always live under the shadow of the first. There are already too many stories about second generations in web novels, so this time, I want to focus on the first generation—the true, authentic pioneers.

Each of us, in our own way, is part of the first generation.

Li Chengtang, the Tiancheng Emperor of Daning, always aspired to rival the founding emperor of Daning. But as we all know, it is usually the weaker one who seeks to measure up to the stronger, not the other way around.

The story of Changning felt somewhat drawn out. In my mind, Leng An’s tale should have concluded around three million words, but later, various other ideas emerged, making the later parts of Changning messy and disorganized. This was my fault, and I sincerely apologize to everyone.

If you cannot forgive me, I’ll punish myself with three drinks.

I spent much more time preparing for this new book, meticulously organizing the entire storyline from beginning to end. This clarity will help avoid the chaotic twists and turns that plagued the later stages of Changning—like sudden shocks, catastrophic collapses, or overwhelming surprises.

I started brainstorming this new book eleven months ago, using every spare moment to outline the timeline and plot, determined not to slack off again. A reader once said, "A poorly written book is an affront to its readers." These words are golden, a timeless truth to be remembered forever.

In the story of Changning, we witnessed the prosperity and glory of Daning. Now, let’s explore why Daning became so powerful.

Let’s take a closer look at this figure—the founding generation of Daning.

I sincerely thank every reader, though words alone cannot fully express my gratitude. Instead, I’ll show it through frequent updates.

On May 15th, expect an explosive release of new chapters.
